DEVOTIONAL (added 2/4/23)
GOD'S LOVE
John 3:16, 17 KJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
These verses are perhaps the most well-known statement in the Bible of the path to eternal life.
In these words, Jesus, the Son of God walking sinless among us sinners, speaks of his mission to us, and the love that initiated it: the love of God, the Father, the First Person of the holy Godhead.
These words cannot be ignored – they are either the path to eternal life or this devotional book is built on a lie, and I assure you it is the former. No other truth exists whereby we must be saved (see Acts 4:12), for it is to believe in and follow Jesus that we will gather with him someday into eternity. Even today we shall find God’s goodness enlivening us on earth.
We come to Jesus as a little child, believing about him, believing in him, not as we believe a philosophy or a historical biography - - no, much more than that – we believe that Jesus lives today and is intimately involved with our spiritual maturing – our sanctification – each moment. He provided though the shedding of his precious blood on the hill of Golgotha around 2000 years ago the way for our forgiveness of our wrong-doing -- our sinful breaking of God’s purest expectations for our behavior and eternal flourishing.
Thus God has in mercy provided a resolution for our dilemma of persistent Godlessness, and wipes even the vilest slate clean!
Have you followed Jesus? If so, dedicate yourself anew this month and beyond to follow him closer and closer.
If you are not yet a follower, are you willing to accept this free gift and repent of your sins as best you understand them? Will you grasp the gift God gives to you, or will you refuse to lift you hand and heart to receive the love God offers through Jesus? This is the most important question anyone will ever ask you.
Make this first day of this new month the first day of your eternal life –- if you have not already, accept God’s amazing grace and love in Jesus, and tell others!
Matthew 16:24,25 KJV Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

DEVOTIONAL: God’s Gift to the World, Blemished in Our Generation
Genesis 9:12-13 (KJV)
And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
LGBT groups like the rainbow – for them it’s a multicolored representation of many outspoken sexual groups – other than a traditional/biological (male Y chromosome, or not) Male-Female definition of sexual types.
I do not begrudge their adoption of a representative symbol, but this symbol has already been taken by God himself, centuries ago. It is a confusion in society, and to my mind a dangerous banner for this group use – those who practice unnatural sexual behaviors.
Romans 1:26-28
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
We Christians should hold fast to this symbol, lifted into the sky by God himself, and not abandon it silently. It is a reminder of God’s love, in spite of sin. It is therefore a reminder of sin itself, and an abomination as a sexually un-Christian sexually movement banner.
Let use it often and solemnly, remembering the rainbow’s origin and significance and also the symbol of Noah’s dove in the above picture, and use them widely, with explanation, in the face of its degradation by some.
Also, we must continue to love those who practice homosexual sins, or herterosexual sins, to urge them to come to the light as reprentant sinners, as all we were. They too must come for their own sake to confess all to Jesus -- they are on an dangerous path, and we must warn them if we truly love them and love our Shepherd, Jesus!
